The collaboration with IES Fernando Wirtz reinforces the company's commitment to specialized IT training.
We have signed the third agreement with the Fernando Wirtz High School to develop a new edition of the Intensive Dual Vocational Training program in Web Application Development. This program, the only one in Galicia with an intensive, full-class program in the area of Information Technology, will have 15 places and maintains its innovative approach by prioritizing the personal interview as an admission criterion over academic grades.
The selection process ends on Friday, July 4th, when students can submit their applications by attaching their resumes. As in previous years, those who pass this first phase will have an interview with our talent team, which will assess their skills, motivation, and affinity with the technological profile the company demands. The interviews will be held in July, with the aim of communicating the results to both the school and the Galician Regional Government in time for the start of the academic year in September.
The training program, which will span two academic years, combines instruction at the IES Fernando Wirtz with internships at our facilities. Students will attend theoretical classes from September 2025 to March 2026, and will return to the classroom between September 2026 and March 2027. They will spend the months of April through August of each year at Altia, participating in real-life, multidisciplinary projects within specialized technical teams.
“The intensive and personalized approach of this Dual Vocational Training program allows us to train highly qualified profiles that meet the current needs of the sector,” says Ángela Souto, Head of Talent. “From the beginning, we have opted for a model in which learning takes place in real-life environments, accompanied by professionals who work with cutting-edge technologies. Our intention is, without a doubt, to continue consolidating this program as a direct entry route to quality technological employment.”
The results of previous editions attest to the impact of this training program, as demonstrated by the fact that in the first two rounds, more than one hundred applications were received for the 15 positions offered. In terms of employability, this has been notable, as all students who completed the program were offered a contract at Altia.
“The direct connection between the educational environment and the business world is essential to ensuring truly useful and up-to-date training, undoubtedly thanks to the efforts of Altia professionals who actively participate in improving student performance,” says Jaime Saavedra, director of the A Coruña office. “From our headquarters, we see every year how this program adds value to students and enriches our teams by incorporating young professionals with a solid technical foundation and a great capacity for adaptation. Investing in Intensive Dual Vocational Training is, ultimately, investing in the future of the technology sector in Galicia.”
The Intensive Dual Vocational Training program represents an opportunity for students seeking applied training, close to the market, and in constant contact with innovation. With this third edition, we reinforce our commitment to young talent, employability, and the development of the Galician technological network.
