As a Microsoft partner, we have conducted the study, deployment, and monitoring of the transformation plan, also collaborating in the training of Iberostar professionals to maximize the use of the new platform and boost the organization's efficiency.

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, a Spanish hotel chain with 100 4- and 5-star hotels in 13 countries and a team of 35,000 people worldwide, is advancing its digital strategy. In line with its data-driven strategy and with the goal of facilitating access to key business information to reduce decision-making times, the company is modernizing its data platform with the implementation of Microsoft Fabric.

Led by its Data Analytics & Transformation Office (DATO), Iberostar has redesigned its data extraction, transformation, and loading process using Microsoft Fabric, reducing query times by up to 90%. With a high volume of data, exceeding more than 50 billion records, the company is committed to a unified, robust, and efficient solution to understand market developments in each of its destinations and thus identify and design potential commercial strategies that offer value to its different stakeholders. This strategic shift has allowed the company to accelerate decision-making and streamline the launch of new services and commercial strategies.

For Rubén Canosa , Data Analytics & Transformation Office Director at Iberostar Hotels & Resorts: “Direct access to unified data in OneLake allows us to be more competitive, improve our stakeholders’ experience, and optimize the data collection and analysis process to be more efficient in our commercial strategy.”

The implementation of this platform allows Iberostar to enhance its market knowledge by analyzing and comparing historical data and performing interactive queries, resulting in procurement cost savings of around 20%.

A complex process to simplify everyday life

After identifying Iberostar's challenges, we conducted an analysis of the existing analytics platform's architecture and infrastructure. The main conclusion was the need to improve the performance of the ingestion processes and redesign the semantic layer. The answer to all these needs was Microsoft Fabric, an unlimited data analytics service integrated into a rich cloud ecosystem with the rest of the elements necessary to address the ambitious transformation plan.

We were responsible for designing and implementing data ingestion and transformation processes in Microsoft Azure and generating a data model semantically aligned with business users, allowing for easy analysis of information through interactive dashboards and reports provided byMicrosoft Power BI. This gives Iberostar professionals access to a service tailored to their needs, allowing them not only to consume information independently but also to share it with other teams and collaborate easily. We also collaborated on training the company's human resources team, whose managers, along with the IT team, defined the progress of the project to meet the real needs of the business.

The implementation of Microsoft Fabric has helped further advance Iberostar's data strategy, enabling it to become more agile, competitive, and efficient. This technological advancement reinforces Iberostar's commitment to innovation and excellence in customer experience.
