The Supercomputing Center of Castilla y León , funded by REACT-EU, has awarded us a contract to enhance its cybersecurity by supplying and implementing advanced cybersecurity tools and providing support from our Security Operations Center (SOC), which will allow it to address cyber threats in real time.

The Castilla y León Supercomputing Center (SCAyLE) is a public entity created by the Regional Government and the University of León, which belongs to the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) , and aims to improve the research tasks of the University, research centers and companies in the Community. In order to have advanced cybersecurity solutions that allow it to protect its entire organization, as well as to have highly specialized resources to combat the cyber threats it may face in the coming years, it has decided to trust ALTIA in a project that will last 60 months .

The project highlights the implementation of advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect SCAYLE's various environments, as well as a next-generation infrastructure that protects the organization's entire perimeter with a highly available perimeter firewall . Additionally, it will have an email protection system and an internal network surveillance and monitoring system based on Artificial Intelligence to detect potentially dangerous patterns, activities, and traffic. The corporate IP network analysis and monitoring system implemented by Altia will allow it to identify threats, manage network risks, and articulate the appropriate prevention, defense, analysis, investigation, recovery, and response capabilities.

ALTIA will also provide user access protection measures through MFA (multi-factor authentication) solutions , solutions to secure remote user access , and additional security measures for end users. It will also perform initial installation, parameterization, and advanced configuration services .

Additionally, the highly skilled and specialized team at its Security Operations Center (SOC) will provide cybersecurity support, which is especially valuable given resource constraints and increasing system complexity.

“We are truly pleased to collaborate with the Castilla y León Supercomputing Center on this cybersecurity project,” say Belén Ferreiro, Cybersecurity Manager at ALTIA, and Chema Famelgo , Account Manager. “This collaboration undoubtedly reinforces our commitment to offering cutting-edge, high-quality services to public and private companies in such a critical area today as cybersecurity. We offer comprehensive cybersecurity solutions to protect all their environments and support our clients in their daily work with our SOC services.”

“As part of such an ambitious technological renovation project as the one being undertaken at our center, the communications aspect posed several challenges. On the one hand, it was necessary to adapt our Internet connectivity to the speeds already offered by academic networks (up to 100 GB), which we weren't offering to our users due to equipment limitations. On the other hand, it was time to take a significant leap forward in communications monitoring and security.”

But there was also a third, more technically and administratively tedious challenge, which required completing the entire installation and commissioning process, as well as migrating the systems, without incurring significant service interruptions, including nighttime interventions. "We can say that the project was executed very satisfactorily, and all challenges were successfully met," explains José Manuel Martínez García, Systems Coordinator at SCAYLE .

The project with SCAyLE confirms ALTIA's experience and leadership in the field of cybersecurity, providing innovative and secure solutions that help all types of organizations face today's technological challenges.
