We have concluded for the fifth consecutive year the edition of our GenTech program, an initiative that seeks to promote the vocational appeal of young people towards STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and which this year has expanded its scope of action to the Valencian Community, which joins Galicia and Madrid.

GenTech takes place every year from January to May in secondary and high school schools, creating a space for relaxed conversation where students can ask questions and share their concerns with Altia professionals. Since its launch in the 2018/2019 academic year, it has grown exponentially, reaching a new milestone this year by involving more than 650 students from 17 schools. In these talks, Altia professionals of different backgrounds and ages share their training and professional experiences, demonstrating how technological skills can be essential tools for the future.

Another of GenTech's fundamental pillars is promoting diversity within teams and the inclusion of women in the technology sector. This approach not only seeks to contribute to creating a more equitable environment, but also to develop more inclusive technological solutions that are representative of society as a whole.

The feedback Altia gathered after this edition was very positive, and the most valued aspects were the discovery of the career opportunities offered by STEM degrees, the employability offered by these types of courses, and the importance of digital training as a tool for the future.

“Most of the centers where we've held GenTech talks have expressed their desire to continue participating in the program and recommend it, considering it a relaxed and engaging way to reach young people and spark their interest in STEM careers,” commented Josefina Fernández, Director of Sustainability & ESG. “Our intention is to continue sharing Altia's technological genius in future editions and reach more centers and provinces in Spain with this initiative,” said Fernández.

Promoting digital talent

GenTech is an Altia initiative that is part of the activities of the Galician Digital Talent Promotion Plan, DigiTalent 2030, promoted by AMTEGA, in which we participate as one of the companies adhering to the Galician Digital Pact to promote the technological growth of the Community.

The fifth edition of GenTech was attended by more than 670 students from 17 schools in Galicia, Madrid, and Valencia. The arrival in the latter Autonomous Community is part of the steps taken in the last two editions to expand the project to the entire Spanish territory.
